Technical Service Specialist/Farm Evaluator - California Region

Job Description:

This position works with LOL dairy member-owners to be compliant with standards and guidelines established by LOL and regulatory agencies. Reviews the member-owners' milk quality, animal well-being plans, observes animal care practices, evaluates facilities in an effort to assure substantial compliance to the National Dairy FARM Program. Also has routine communications with member-owners on premiums and base assessments and any member concerns
70%: Troubleshoot complex milk quality issues efficiently, using advanced understanding of specific Members' practices and operations. Performs inspections of Members' milking equipment. Communicates with Members' on quality issues or other difficult conversations. Work closely with all outside laboratories to ensure testing frequency and accuracy is being performed. Evaluate LOL member-owners compliance with animal well being standards. Using evaluation materials, schedule and complete farm visits for the sole purpose of evaluating farm conditions and practices as they relate to animal care and well being. Develop action plans for continuous improvement. Complete all paperwork for F.A.R.M evaluations.

15%: Provide member-owners with needed forms and help develop SOPs and policies. Complete all paperwork for rbst affidavits, degrogations and base assessments. Assist member-owners in preparations for third party audits of dairy animal well being program. Maintain F.A.R.M program certification. Communicate quality and or other difficult topics during Member meetings. 10%: Take action to bring non-compliant dairy animal well being member practices up to standard. Immediately report any observations of blatant animal abuse or neglect. Investigate any reports of dairy animal abuse or neglect on member farms.Create charts and trend relevant data. Monthly create Certificate of Conformance for Milk.

5%: Attend animal welfare conferences. Track member-owner quality in order to determine annual quality awards.

Required Qualifications:

4-year degree, or higher, in Dairy management, Agriculture, or related field

Proficient with Microsoft Office products and able to use various devices (laptop, tablet, smart phone, etc.) effectively in performance of role

Technical expert in applied dairy science knowledge with minimum of 4 years of work experience in the dairy industry

General knowledge of record keeping systems related to animal health

Possesses an advanced understanding of milking center management

Strong interpersonal communication skills including conflict management

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
